Job Description
JavaScript Developer (aka “JavaScript Ninja”)
Position located in Mountain View, CA

If you value computer science fundamentals, love absurd JavaScript challenges, and thrive best in small, friendly, energetic teams, then we believe this is the perfect opportunity for you to shine. The ideal candidate can describe the IE Box Model, feels at home with JavaScript’s prototype chain, and can’t imagine the days before Firebug and Venkman.

Got an itch for object-oriented JavaScript, cross-browser event handling, and pixel perfection?
meebo has pushed the boundaries of the web by creating a Windows-like web framework with JavaScript. We seek a JavaScript programmer with strong CS fundamentals who can describe the difference between the W3C and IE box models and has been known to have Venkman, Firebug, and the IE Script Debugger running simultaneously. We’re not particular about the years of professional experience but a passion for web technologies and optimizing the user experience is a must.
Our ideal candidate will have:

•2+ years of JavaScript software development experience
•Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
•Phenomenal debugging principles (and perseverance)
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills
•Previous experience with DHTML, CGI, CSS, AJAX and other web applications
•Familiarity with web frameworks like Dojo, prototype.js, and Rico
•The ideal candidate will be a bright, logical team-player
Previous experience with web technologies is a plus but we are also impressed by highly-motivated individuals with solid CS backgrounds who are itching to try something new. While the environment is fun and friendly, it’s also fast paced: schedules are measured in days not weeks and our team is obsessed with delivering the best user experience possible.
Responsibilities include:

•Work towards weekly and bi-weekly deadlines on the development of high-visibility, high-quality web products
•Work with product team to assess feasibility and priority of new features
•Develop debugging tools as necessary
•Assist in testing regularly scheduled releases
•Proactively recommend architecture changes and suggest new coding practices
•Collaborate with server-side programmers to optimize scalability and network efficiency
•Stay up-to-date with competing technologies
