Senior Systems Architect - Applications

Description:

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Systems Architect for Application is to work with our business groups to understand their business processes and information needs and to work with other members of our IT to identify and design solution options that support the business needs.

In addition, as a senior contributor, he or she will be helping a team establish and maintain the architectural vision for IT throughout the corporation by:

* Developing conceptual solution designs to meet the business needs while maintaining fit with the rest of IT strategy and technology standards.
* Researching, developing, maintaining, and communicating technology standards and strategy
* Identifying and justifying potential investments in new systems and technologies, including proof-of-concept pilots and vendor evaluations
* Creating and maintaining roadmaps based on gap analysis for transitioning from current to future-state architectures
* Participating in an architecture review process that enforces adherence to defined standards, principles, and procedures for new technologies
* Establishing, communicating, and enforcing application design patterns, interface standards, and development guidelines
* Conducting project reviews and providing consulting services to high-impact development and deployment projects to ensure standards and best practices are being observed

Requirements:

Experience across a broad range of applications and technologies, including:

* Business applications such as ERP, CRM, Finance, supply chain, web applications, etc.
* Business Processes workflow and management such as BPM, BAM
* Enterprise Applications and Information Integration (EAI and EII)
* Web Services, Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA)
* Application languages, frameworks and standards such as JAVA, J2EE, .Net, JSR168, WSRP, STRUTS, etc.
* Application security and information protection
* Data flow and Architecture

In addition the candidate must have or be able to:

* Must love what they do, do it well and is easy to work with.  Good Teamwork is a must
* Demonstrated ability to set and communicate technology standards from both strategic and tactical perspectives
* Communicate effectively (both oral and written) with people at different technical levels
* Work both independently and with others on multiple projects simultaneously, and to work on technologies hands-on as well as in the abstract.
* Good understanding of IT components that are needed to deliver business solutions such as server, storage, and client devices including Solaris, AIX, Windows, VMWARE, SAN, NAS, LAMP, etc.
* Experience in BioTech is a plus
* At least 6 - 10 years of experience in business applications design. Development, and deployment.
